This week I was actually able to do a craft with Monkey. Crafts don’t happen that often in our house because I work and I generally consider it a succuess if I can manage the basic school subjects with her. However, every now and then we find time to work one end.
This craft was part of our unit study about elephants. We actually did the study about three weeks ago, but just now got around to the craft. Monkey liked this craft very well.
We got the craft idea from Danielle’s Place under the “Homeschool” tab. The “E” is part of her paid homeschool collection of Bible studies, crafts and school ideas. I think it is around $13 for the entire alphabet. It has options for preschool through 3rd grade.
The craft itself was easy. Here is how we made the elephants:
Step 1: Cut out bodies and heads from the eggs. We used a head pattern from Danielle’s Place and cut out the bodies to resemble legs.
Step 2: Glue heads to bodies. I used hot glue. It worked pretty well.
Step 3: Paint the elephants. We used acrylic paints. Monkey wanted to paint them pink, blue and green, so we did. She painted on the eyes after the base coats dried.
And that was it! I think they turned out pretty cute!
