When Monkey turned six, she wanted a rainbow-themed party. That year, she had two parties- a friend party and a home party on her actual birthday. We made a 6-layer rainbow cake for her birthday, then made rainbow cupcakes for her friend party.
How to Make Rainbow Cake
Ice the outside of the cake with sky blue frosting. Add white globs of frosting for clouds. The nuts and sprinkle rainbow are optional and were Monkey’s addition.
This is what the cake looked like when cut!
How to Make Rainbow Cupcakes
- Cake batter
- Cupcake liners
- Rainbow gummy candies (we used these)
Step 1: Cupcake Baking
Mix and bake your cupcakes according to package directions. Use cupcake liners to make it even easier. For these, we left our cake batter white.
Step 2: Cupcake Decorating
Frost your cupcakes in sky blue frosting. Add two white globs of frosting to either side of the cupcake to make clouds.
Anchor the two ends of the rainbow candies into the clouds to make a 3D rainbow. Wait for the icing to harden a bit, and you are done!
If you make a rainbow cake, or any other kind of cake, come share it with us on the Schooling a Monkey Facebook page! We would love to see your creations!
