Last week, we were given tickets to attend the new Eyellusions exhibit at the Frisco Sci-Tech Discover Center. I bundled up the girls and we went on a little trip together!
Monkey is incredibly into science, so she was stoked to be taking a science field trip.
I had never been to the Frisco Sci-Tech Discover Center before, so I really had no idea what to expect.
When we got there, the exhibit was impressive. There were so many interactive Eyellusions exhibits that explained the science behind illusions. My favorite part was that the exhibit was Victorian-themed, and I really don’t get enough Victorian influences in my life anymore. I won’t spoil the surprise too much, because it is well worth the trip up to Frisco to check out the exhibit (it only took us about 15 minutes to get there on the DNT). The current Eyellusions exhibit will be there until January 3, 2016.
While I loved the Victorian theme, the girls preferred the dinosaur exhibits. I’m not quite sure what dinosaurs have to do with Victorian themes, except perhaps they were run by animatronics, but the girls were in love and spent most of the time “escaping” the terrifying dinosaurs. I loved touring the exhibits and investigating all of the optical illusions.
When we were through exploring the Eyellusions exhibit, the girls spent some time in the permanent exhibit and spent at least an hour playing there. Everything was enjoyable for both girls, which I thought was interesting since they are so far apart in age. The Frisco Sci-Tech Discover Center definitely did a good job appealing to all-ages. In all, we spent about three hours there and the girls would have stayed longer if I let them.
The combination of the Eyellusions interactive exhibits at the museum makes it ideal for a birthday party setting. I never would have thought to consider a museum or science center as an activity for a birthday party, but after visiting the Frisco Sci-Tech Discover Center, it is now on the top of our list. They even had a little area where you could serve cake.
If you live in the Dallas area and haven’t checked out the Eyellusions exhibit at the Frisco Sci-Tech Discover Center. , I definitely recommend it!
Current admission: $8 for anyone over age 3. Groups of 10 or more get a discount price (it would make an excellent place for a homeschool group field trip).
