As part of our partnership with Disney Junior this summer, Bo and I were invited to a Disney Junior FRiYAY party. Every Friday morning The Disney Channel is airing new episodes of Disney Junior shows. The party we went to was such a fun way to celebrate the event and bond with other moms of preschoolers while the kiddos had fun with all the party activities!
The Friday we went aired new episodes of Elena of Avalor and Sofia the First, so the party host chose to focus on those two shows for her decorations.
Elena of Avalor Party Decorations
I thought the decorations for this Disney Junior FRiYAY party were incredible.
Using a mix of mostly Disney Junior printables, tissue paper, and balloons, the party host was able to create a beautiful room.
The main colors were pulled from the Elena of Avalor show, with a lot of bright red, gold, blue, and green.
We discovered that one of the “decorations” was actually an edible necklace made to look like Sofia and Elena’s necklace (in purple and red).
These made fun party favors for the kids. Bo liked ours so much, she wanted us to make some at home. We share our version at the end of this post.
Elena of Avalor Party Food
Every food at the party was tied into a theme from either Elena of Avalor or Sofia the First because those episodes were airing on this particular Disney Junior FRiYAY. Elena got most of the savory foods, including mini-tacos, and little empanadas.
Elena also got a churro bar and some frozen hot chocolate!
Sofia got most of the sweet snacks, including crown cookies, purple cupcakes, and purple pretzel wands. Bo loves Elena, but she much preferred Sofia’s foods.
Elena of Avalor Party Activities
There were so many fun activities for the kids at this Disney Junior FRiYAY party.
They had coloring sheets, build-your-own maracas, a carrot scavenger hunt, and outdoor picnic for dessert, the watch party, and dancing. Every activity was perfect for the preschool age group.
There was even a leadership activity packet that Disney Junior and the Girl Scouts collaborated together on to come up with creative ways to promote leadership skills in preschoolers up to elementary-aged kids.
Princess Sofia Party Picnic
The Princess Sofia picnic was a highlight of the party. The kids spread out onto colorful blankets and ate their snacks while wearing their costumes. It was so much fun to watch them eat their snacks in fancy outfits like an old-fashioned tea party!
Elena of Avalor Candy Necklace Directions
Follow these directions to make your own Elena of Avalor candy necklaces:
What you will need:
- Red candies
- Silicone molds in a teardrop shape (with holes)
- Elastic string
Melt the candies in a microwave-safe bowl. It took about 80 seconds to melt our candy.
Carefully pour the candy into the molds while it is still hot.
Make sure the piece that will become the hole in the necklace isn’t covered up.
Tap the molds gently on a flat surface to remove any air bubbles.
Wait for the candy to harden (it takes about an hour).
Pop the candy out of the mold, then tie an elastic string through the hole. Make sure the string is long enough to go over a child’s head.
The necklaces are done!
Bo thought it was the best thing ever that Elena’s necklace could be made from candy. I think it was her favorite part of the party!
Tune in to the Disney Junior FRiYAY Friday mornings on Disney Channel this summer for all new episodes of these fun Disney Junior shows!
