Today is the last day of our 5 days of DIY Christmas gift ideas for neighbors series. Today, we are featuring sunshine in a box! I love this gift because it is so cheery and adorable. You can also adjust the contents to suit a family/neighbor of any kind. I found most of the items in our box from around the house (it’s surprising how many little yellow trinkets are lying around!), but the dollar store is also a great place to look for little items like these.
The concept of sunshine in a box is simply to send bright colored items to a friend to add a bit of cheer their day. You don’t have to use yellow items if you don’t want- any color would work. I could see a red box being quite festive for Christmas!
Here is what is in our box:
You could also include a lot of other items, such as lemon drops, bananas, tea in a yellow box, rain boots, yellow gloves, and almost anything. There are tons of yellow items to choose from.
After you gather your items, wrap them in festive tags and ribbon to make the gift read more “Christmas.”
I used a piece of yellow fabric to wrap the box. You could also use yellow wrapping paper. I think anyone feeling a little blue this holiday season would love getting this gift!
