Christmas Sugar Cookie Pop Tutorial
- Make the cookies according to your recipe. Before placing the cookies into the oven, stick a popsicle stick inside each cookie to turn it into a lollipop. The cookies should spread out as they bake. If your instructions call for flattening the cookies before baking, follow those directions. Bake the cookies for 5 to 8 minutes, then allow to cool completely.
- Spread the cookies with colored icing (you could also use white to make the decorations stand out more).
- Allow children to sprinkle the decorations on the cookies. Ours were simple red and green sprinkles, but you can use nearly anything. You could use white icing and make them snowman faces, you could do Santa faces, you could make Christmas trees, stars, pretty much anything.
- Allow the icing to dry before storing the cookies. I think they would look pretty displayed in a jar, but we didn’t do that when we made them. We just placed them on a plate and enjoyed our fun treat. Part of our lack of presentation was simply because we made the cookies on a whim and had no special reason for them. You could also stick the sticks into a block of Styrofoam to make a sort of display stand.
